Thanks for reading about us.
In support of the Melanoma Institute of Australia, our group from the Balmoral Beach Club, will attempt to swim from Spain to Morocco on or about the 14th September (depending on weather conditions).
We are a keen group of ocean swimmers who have swum in many different countries over the past 10 years or so. After dedicated training we are attempting the challenging swim across the Gibraltar Strait.
Like the majority of Australians we all enjoy and love our outdoor lifestyle, unfortunately one of the disadvantages accompanying this love is the exposure to the harsh sun. All of our team members have in one way or another been affected by either melanomas or other forms of skin cancers. Consequently we are cognisant of the importance of protection against the sun and the research involved in combating the ravages of our sunny climate. Hence our support for the Melanoma Institute of Australia. Team members Denise Elder, Jan Davies, Jenny Hole, Jack Stening, Jon Attwater, James Arnold, Peter MacCormick and Tony Bostock are looking to raise as much money as possible to support the MiA,
All money donated will be going to the Melanoma Institute of Australia, which you can donate at http://www.everydayhero.com.au/gibraltar_strait_swimmers. In anticipation all donations will certainly be appreciated. All donations are tax deductible.
well done with the new site a credit to you thanks for making it happen
ReplyDeleteWhat a great team and we all at the BBC are proud of your efforts and your fund raising for such a worthy cause
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific group of positive people you guys are! I couldn't think of a more appropriate cause to fund raise for. Best of luck for getting the right conditions for the crossing guys, know that you will finnish the swim if the conditions allow. Just watch the ocean wild life and the occasional bit of shipping. Heard it can get a bit busy ~ Ian M
